Clobber Jiu Jitsu
Delmar, NY
Delmar is a suburb in Albany County. It defiantly has all the excitement that you would expect from a suburb, including a post office. Clobber Jujitsu is in a strip mall next to a small gym that seems vacant most of the time. This makes sense; what ever goes on at a BJJ gym is way more fun than a regular gym any day.
Joe "Clobber" Cashin is one of Brian Beaury's black belts, and he started his affiliate gym about a year ago. Not sure where he got his nickname; but one can imagine it was from spazzing as an ultraheavy white belt. Clobber is a serious competitor and is ripping through the Masters 2 division at comps across the county. There are a lot of “older” people who train here, and Clobber himself serves as an example that one can excel at the sport in middle age.
It's obvious that teaching BJJ lights a fire under his ass. Clobber works full-time, then spends many hours teaching at the gym and rolling with his students. He obviously loves training with both the adults and the kids. Clobber patiently entertains my complaints that we need to get some of the fun kids’ games into the adult class!
Clobber’s wife, Jackie, has been instrumental in helping him open the business. She is an educator and soccer coach. Their two young daughters both train, and the kids classes are adorable. The gym is also smartly decorated, which I think may reassure some hesitant parents. It is a wonderful sport for children to get involved in. No double-sided tape decorating these walls!
Classes are 6 days per week, gi and nogi, drop ins are $20
Comfortable place to hang

Great advice for kids and adults
